The Saga of Beowulf concerns the heroics of a Swedish warrior chieftain in Denmark, and written in Anglo-Saxon. It is the earliest surviving tale in our language (Old English). Why the scholar who wrote it didn't choose something heroic from England is a mystery, as in those turbulent times there must have been plenty of source material.
Perhaps it was the very difficulty in checking historical references that led our scholar to base his ideas in a far-off land because, in this essay, I show that all the major segments of the Saga have an astronomical interpretation.
